City officials challenged by lowered danger perception at Reedy Falls Park
In Greenville, S.C., the newly reopened Reedy Falls Park draws large numbers of sightseers to its waterfalls as well as the Liberty Bridge. City officials are worried, however, that many thrill-seekers — such as kayakers and climbers — have lost a level of danger perception since a bridge that once stretched over the falls was removed. According to TheCarolinaChannel.com, the bridge gave the appearance of much more challenging kayaking. The Department of National Resources noted that the falls are no more safe without it, especially when the water rises. Climbers, who work their way up the middle of the falls, have also been surprised by the danger. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=401&ncid=401&e=2&u=/koat/20040930/lo_wyff/2393531
