York County, Va., officials improve county’s main route
York County, Va., officials hope that minor improvements to businesses along Route 17 will amount to a major makeover for the county’s main road. According to the Daily Press in Hampton Roads, Va., the area is not know for its good looks, and a committee has worked for about a year and a half to come up with ways to revitalize the road. $230,000 has been set aside by the county for landscaping, the hiring of an architect and consulting fees for businesses with a landscape architect, at no charge to the businesses. The county will also be installing new road signs, among other things. Additionally, the county will pay for half the cost of exterior improvements for businesses along the route, up to $20,000. http://www.dailypress.com/news/yahoo/dp-80372sy0sep20,0,1692251.story?coll=dp-aol-yahoo-nws-hed
