Kendall County, Texas, commissioners keep refuge open
Monday, the Kendall County, Texas, commissioners voted to allow the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Kendalia to remain open. According to KSAT, Channel 12 in San Antonio, a neighbor of the center tried to get the refuge closed, citing safety problems and alleged violations of wildlife laws. The Assistant County Attorney read findings of two inspections of the facility to the Commissioners Court, which concluded that the facility is an asset to the community and doesn’t pose a threat to the public. Commissioners also voted to have the county attorney’s office draft an order that would allow the county to regulate wild animals, an ordinance Kendall County currently does not have. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=391&ncid=391&e=13&u=/ibsys/20040914/lo_ksat/2369738
