EXTRA, EXTRA/Wisconsin cop wins doughnut-eating crown
Living up to a stereotype paid off for a Wisconsin police officer who recently claimed the top prize in a doughnut-eating contest. According to The Associated Press (AP), Terry O’Brien of the Town of Geneva, Wis., Police Department “left his opponents in a cloud of powdered sugar dust in downing 9 1/2 doughnuts in three minutes.” The contest was held at the Twin Lakes, Wis.-based International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association’s annual conference in Rolling Meadows, Ill., according to the AP.
Edward Kokkelenberg from Vestal, N.Y., won second place, and the reigning champion, Gary Sellers from Highland, Ill., finished third. Entrants’ $10 entry fees and T-shirt proceeds were donated to the Law Enforcement Memorial Fund and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association scholarship fund.
