Cities, states file suit to block changes to Clean Air Act
More than 20 cities and 13 states filed a lawsuit Monday that seeks to block new provisions to the Clean Air Act that take effect in two months. The lawsuit “contends new rules from the Bush administration would weaken protections for the environment and public health,” the Associated Press (AP) reports. “The Environmental Protection Agency regulation makes it easier to upgrade utilities, refineries and other industrial facilities without installing additional pollution controls.” States will have up to three years to comply with the new rules, the AP adds. New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and New Haven, Conn., were among the cities who filed the suit. For more information, visit
