King County,Wash., beefs up election security
King County, Wash.’s elections chief is concerned about election security, and he is doing something about it. According to The Seattle Times, Dean Logan, director of records, elections and licensing services, has “[restricted] employee access to a key election software program and [removed] other software from the elections computer.” He also will seek a formal response from McKinney, Texas-based Diebold Election Systems to recent reports that the company’s election software has significant security problems. “We’re going to take it extremely seriously because we want to be sure that voters are confident that their votes are counted and counted as they intended them to be counted,” Logan told the newspaper.
