Commissioner of Planning & Community Development
SULLIVAN COUNTY, a rural New York county located 1 1/2 hours northwest of New York City is seeking an individual with excellent communication skills to assist the County’s economic development organizations in both developing projects and ensuring their completion. Candidates must have strong organizational, motivational and training skills in economic development. Prior planning and grant writing experience desirable. This position reports directly to and serves at the pleasure of the County Manager and is responsible for the administration and supervision of a professional staff of approximately 10 persons, as well as preparation of division budgets. Candidates must possess either a Master’s in Planning, Public or Business Administration or Marketing and six years of progressively responsible experience in municipal, community or regional planning activities, including at least two years of supervisory experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public or Business Administration, Marketing or Industrial Management and eight years of progressively responsible experience as noted above; or an equivalent combination of experience and training as defined by the limits above.
