Scan System Goes Worldwide
Cross Match Technologies’ live scan fingerprinting system, already in use by numerous airports, the FBI, and the U.S. military, was improved last summer when the company released the Jump Start Kit that allows the system to be used in rugged, outdoor terrains. Targeted specifically for military and law enforcement customers, the kit is waterproof and dustproof and able to operate using a vehicle’s cigarette lighter. Its components include a digital camera, a digital signature pad, and an adapter for the lighter. Since fingerprints are captured and electronically stored using the Cross Match system, law enforcement agencies can quickly obtain the prints for faster processing and inclusion in national law enforcement databases. The inclusion of the camera allows photos to be fed into databases. Cross Match VP of marketing Maureen Stevens reports that banks, nuclear power plants, schools, and government agencies are using the Jump Start Kit to perform background checks.
