According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Mayor Willie Brown asserts that those costs will mean more layoffs of health care workers, and cutbacks at swimming pools and health clinics. One city supervisor introduced a resolution Tuesday asking the city attorney to determine whether the city can recover protest-related expenses from demonstration organizers. Activists claim the city assigns too many officers to nonviolent protests, escalating expenses.
