City Engineer
The City of Panama City seeks a highly responsible Professional Civil Engineer to direct the engineering design and construction activities for the City.
The successful candidate reports directly to the Public Works Director and will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and guidance to a staff of engineering technicians and support personnel engaged in the development, programming, design, and inspection of public improvement/construction projects. Work includes hands-on development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for City projects; negotiating and managing project design efforts buy consulting architects and engineers. Florida environmental and DOT permitting experience is desirable. This position is responsible for the review of commercial and residential development plans for compliance with applicable development regulations and standards. Must possess extensive engineering design skills, a team-oriented leadership/management style, a comprehensive understanding of the public policy aspect of local government, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a minimum of 8 years progressively responsible civil engineering experience, preferably at a local government level, at least 3 years of which must include experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
