Assistant Public Works Director
The City of Miami Beach (population 96,000 and 1,700 employees) is internationally recognized as a vibrant, tropical and historic community. We are seeking a candidate for an Assistant Public Works Director who will assist the Director in the daily management, long term planning and development of the Public Works Department. The Department has 360 full time employees and a $69 million operating budget and includes the following divisions: Administration, Engineering, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Streets, Street Lighting, Property Management, Sanitation, Transportation, Concurrency, and Environmental Resources.
Requirements: Five years experience in responsible managerial and administrative work in a large public works program. Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public or Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
Desired Qualifications: Municipal experience is preferred. Experience in developing strategic business plans, planning and managing organizational change, team building, work process redesign, reengineering, and financial management of enterprise-funded programs. Candidates should have exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Salary range: $65,938 – $105,726 annually. (Starting salary up to $85,000 D.O.Q.)
