Washington, D.C. – The Federal Highway Administration has released a report that includes reviews of the long-range transportation plans for bicycling and walking of more than 200 state and metropolitan planning organizations.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Under ISTEA: A Synthesis of the State of the Practice includes a discussion of 14 critical elements, including facility design, integration with land use and funding, that planners should include in their efforts.
The report was prepared by the Bicycle Federation of America and the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center and is available from the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Clearinghouse.
