A new book, “Managing Risk in Jails,” has been published for jail administrators and managers, supervisors, line staff, jail inspectors and executive authorities. It covers issues and strategies for risk management program development and organizational investment. The Fairfax, Va.-based Public Entity Risk Institute, the Department of Justice and the Washington-based National Institute of Corrections (NIC) produced the 95-page publication. “The process outlined in this manual can be expanded based on the organization’s size and complexity,” NIC Director Morris Thigpen wrote in the book’s forward.
