The Pasadena, Calif., City Hall has been certified at the Gold level by the Washington-based U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The historic building, built in 1927, is the first municipal facility in Pasadena to receive LEED certification. The city’s Public Works Department completed a seismic retrofit in June 2007 that included other modifications to achieve the second highest LEED rating. Pasadena Water and Power funded the changes, including HVAC upgrades and water-efficient landscaping. For more information, visit www.cityofpasadena.net/cityhall.
