San Leandro, Calif., unveiled a monument in November to honor police officers and firefighters currently serving the city and those who have died in the line of duty. The 7-by-14-foot granite and bronze bas relief lists the names of four officers killed in the line of duty over the past 30 years, representations of the tools used in their jobs and an inscription. Created by Sandy, Utah-based Monument Arts, the monument weighs more than 2,600 pounds and is displayed on the most prominent outdoor wall in the city’s civic center plaza.
