Potential web resource for finding local government jobs

Potential web resource for finding local government jobs

Job-in-the-City.com is a website that streamlines the job search in local government by matching job seekers with local government employers.

It’s no surprise that more and more job seekers are using the Internet as their primary source for finding employment. As a result, large job search engines have cropped up on the web, making it difficult for local governments to competitively recruit qualified candidates and for candidates to learn of employment opportunities in local government. Job-in-the-City.com is a website that may offer a solution to this problem. The site is based in Provo, Utah.

An MPA student created Job-in-the-City.com after the job search process frustrated him. “With the recent economic crisis and budget cuts in local governments, I knew I would have to be willing to relocate and expand my job search,” said Justin Weiss, CEO of Job-in-the-City.com. “What I didn’t realize is how difficult it would be to search for local government jobs because there’s no one-stop-shop to find them.” There are thousands of cities in the U.S, each with its own methods of listing jobs, and it’s overwhelming to try to search through all the websites. Weiss thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice if you could find all the local government job listings in one place?” And that was how Job-in-the-City.com was born.

The website’s goal is to streamline the job search in local government by matching up job seekers with local government employers. The website benefits both the hiring city and the job seeker by bringing them together through a job-listing service. The site is dedicated to local government, which makes it stand out from the hundreds of other job listing sites on the web. This means instead of having to comb through jobs on multiple sites, a job seeker can visit Job-in-the-City.com to find a comprehensive list of local government jobs in the country. And for the hiring city, posting an employment opportunity on the site increases the probability of recruiting from a pool of qualified applicants. The site offers competitive pricing for its job-listing service to cities of all sizes.

Unlike many other job recruiting sites, the site does not rely on potential hires stumbling across the right opening. The site uses its network of contacts, email marketing and social media to maximize its web presence and guide job openings to the right job seekers. On the site, job seekers can search through local government job opportunities throughout the country, all in one place at no charge.

The site provides tools to job seekers, such as a directory of official city websites, job seeking tips and MPA program information. For job seekers and employers alike, Job-in-the-City.com is becoming a source of information to find local government jobs.
