Mosquito larvicide
Natular spinosad-based larvicide targets mosquito larvae using components approved by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). The EPA has categorized the product as a “reduced risk” larvicide, and four formulations are OMRI-listed for use in and around organic food production. A proprietary plaster matrix allows for extended release up to 180 days. According to the manufacturer, the larvicide is effective at use rates two to 10 times lower than traditional synthetic chemistries and is 15 times less toxic than the organophosphate alternative. The product is accepted for use domestically and abroad, with six commercial formulations available for different mosquito-control environments.
