Alliance looks for best communities for young people
The Washington-based non-profit America’s Promise Alliance is looking for 100 communities that are committed to improving the lives of young people and reducing dropout rates. The group is accepting entries for the 100 Best Communities for Young People competition, and winning communities receive media exposure, logistical support for local event celebrations and awards.
In the United States, 1.3 million students drop out of school each year, according to the Alliance. The 100 Best competition recognizes communities with innovative and effective programs that address local dropout issues.
Applications can be submitted from March 1 through June 1. All communities are eligible. Previous 100 Best winners include small towns, large cities, counties and school districts. Technical support conference calls and Webinars are regularly scheduled to clarify the application process.
