The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has issued acceptance letter CC-97 for the CrashGard sand barrel system, confirming that the system meets the criteria of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, Report 350, Test Level 3, for non-redirective, gating crash cushions.

FHWA states that CrashGard may be used on interstates, highways and state and local roads. Blow-molded with high-density polyethylene, CrashGard withstands minor impacts during handling. The system is designed for easy transport with a forklift or the CrashGard hoist.
