Fontana, Calif., celebrated the grand opening of the $65 million Lewis Library and Technology Center last month (www.fontanalibrary.org). Located on 2.1 acres in the city’s new Civic Center Park, the 93,000-square-foot facility houses more than 142,000 publications, a 330-seat auditorium, 203 public computers, a children’s library, meeting rooms, a bookstore, career center, a literacy center with tutoring programs and a café. It is now the largest library in San Bernardino County and the first in the city to seek LEED certification from the Washington-based U.S. Green Building Council. The Los Angeles Office of RNL Design designed the building, and Heery International’s Los Angeles office managed construction.
