United Nations delegation to attend Carbon Forum America
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) staff members plan to send a large delegation to the upcoming Carbon Forum America in San Francisco. UNFCCC staff will attend sessions on energy efficiency and low carbon generation, and will present a side event, “The Kyoto Protocol Offset Mechanisms – Stimulating Investment and Reducing Emissions.”
Carbon Forum America, an exposition of greenhouse gas emissions reduction technologies and strategies, is scheduled for Feb. 26-27 at the Moscone Center. UNFCCC is an international treaty signed more than 10 years ago that eventually led to the Kyoto climate change treaty. Halldor Thorgeirsson, director of the UN’s Sustainable Development Mechanisms Program, and Kai Uwe Schmidt, secretary of the UNFCCC Executive Board, will lead the UNFCCC delegates.
