Carbon Forum side events to cover carbon offsets quality assurance
The upcoming Carbon Forum America, scheduled for Feb. 26-27 in San Francisco, will feature four side events on carbon offsets quality assurance initiatives. Local governments can purchase carbon offsets as credits for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Geneva-based International Emissions Trading Association and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, along with the London-based Climate Group will present a Voluntary Carbon Standard for the voluntary carbon market. A group of six non-profit organizations will present the Offset Quality Initiative to demonstrate how high-quality offsets can be incorporated into emerging climate change policies. Representatives from the San Francisco-based Center for Resource Solutions will unveil the center’s new “Green-e Climate” carbon offset certification program. And, the Basel, Switzerland-based Gold Standard Foundation will stage “Carbon with a Human Face,” a set of tools to measure the effects of carbon financing and the net benefit of offsetting.
