Massport sick-time policy under review by employees who benefit from it

At least two experts in corporate governance criticized the Massachusetts Port Authority’s decision to allow staff members who benefit from an existing sick-time policy to review whether that policy should be changed. Each staff member participating in the review has between $85,000 and $427,000 in unused sick time that they will be able to cash in at retirement if the current policy remains, according to The Boston Globe. Critics say the Massport board should seek a more objective opinion, but a Massport spokesman says the staff members are only gathering data to be given to an outside consultant.
