Skid Row residents concerned about settling Los Angeles homeless suit
Residents of Los Angeles’ skid row are not pleased with a compromise between the American Civil Liberties Union and the Los Angeles City Council over removing homeless people from the area during the day. As part of a settlement of a lawsuit the ACLU filed to prevent police from clearing homeless people from public sidewalks, the police would be able to move the homeless during the day but they could return to camp out at night, according to the Los Angeles Times. Skid row residents and business owners say the settlement does nothing to solve the problem, but police officials say it would at least allow them to do something, whereas currently they can do nothing.
