Attempts to put more power in the hands of Miami’s mayor are being challenged in court. The South Florida AFL-CIO is heading a coalition that wants the Miami-Dade Circuit Court to invalidate a petition drive supporting the plan to transfer administrative power from the county manager to Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, according to The Miami Herald.
