On Monday Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak announced that he wants interim Police Chief Tim Dolan to take on the position permanently. Rybak is believed to have at least five of the seven votes he needs to get the city council’s approval for Dolan, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune. However, at least two council members oppose Dolan’s appointment. One says that the city would miss an opportunity to appoint a black police chief while another calls for a chief with more honesty and willingness to follow policy.
