Economic development staff members are recommending that Dallas sell Reunion Arena by 2008 or, if a new state law is passed allowing it, convert the arena into a casino. The arena lost $1.6 million last year and is expected to lose another $1.41 million this year, according to The Dallas Morning News. Reunion Arena also is losing business to the city’s newer American Airlines Center, which has a non-compete restriction in its contract that gives it first choice on events drawing more than 5,000 people.
