What is the maximum amount of barium permitted in drinking water? What about lead? Keeping up with the drinking water regulations specified in the Safe Drinking Water Act can be a chore. To give water utilities a quick reference guide, Omaha, Neb.-based HDR has created a poster-sized chart with a detailed listing of contaminants and maximum contaminant levels, health effects and monitoring requirements specified in the act. The poster includes two new rules established by the Environmental Protection Agency in January that add monitoring requirements and have expedited implementation schedules. The poster can be downloaded in PDF format from www.hdrinc.com/SDWA, or hard copies may be requested using an online form on the Web site.
