New parking pay stations in Seattle can be confusing
First-time users of the new parking pay station in Seattle find that the new machines are confusing and annoying. In April, the city began a three-year project to replace parking meters with automated pay stations, one per block. To date, about 140 have been installed. The kiosks issue validation stickers showing date and expiration time. Parkers must then affix the sticker to the inside of a car window facing the curb. A recent survey showed that out of 61 vehicles, 48 had the receipt properly displayed, eight had it incorrectly displayed and five did not have one at all. Although display instructions are written on both the machine and the receipt, people are still making mistakes. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002002172_parking11m.html
