EXTRA, EXTRA/Help for purchasing chemical detectors
Emergency responders who are responsible for selecting chemical detection equipment have a new resource to help them choose the best equipment for their needs. The Arlington, Va.-based International Safety Equipment Association has published a brochure entitled “Chemical Agent Detection Guide for First Responders” that covers factors to consider when selecting a chemical detector, such as selectivity, operational and product features, and training. The brochure explains the four classes of chemical warfare agents and various aspects of chemical detection technology. Web addresses for government agencies involved with chemical/biological detection and those for detection device manufacturers are included. To get a copy of the free brochure, send an e-mail to [email protected] or call (703) 525-1695. Information in the brochure also is available online at www.safetyequipment.org.
