Orange County, N.Y. Airport improvements
Construction has begun on the realignment of Runway 3/21 and its taxiway at the Orange County Airport in New York. The estimated $18 million project was approved by the county legislature in 2012 and will be funded almost entirely (90 percent) through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program. The remaining 10 percent will come from New York state (5 percent) and through the county (5 percent). The FAA announced its initial $2,918,052 investment in September. The runway project is expected to be completed in 2017 – phase one is anticipated to last 110 working days, and is being undertaken by Boyce Excavating. Orange County Airport, located in Montgomery, is home to 150 aircraft, a flight school, two aircraft-maintenance-service businesses, a restaurant and aircraft-sales business.
