Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead

Lake County, Fla’s Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead (GMSOT) is a unique component of the Lake Apopka Loop Trail. The 3-story overlook structure is perched on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Apopka and 20,000 acres of wetlands.
The completion of this project makes it possible to hike or bicycle from the overlook through the Lake Apopka North Shore Restoration Area to Magnolia Park in Orange County, a distance of 18 miles. Lake Apopka is Florida’s fourth largest lake and its North Shore is one of the best birding locations in North America, with over 360 indigenous species.
The overlook brings attention to the area’s scenic beauty, unique topography and abundant wildlife while creating a sustainable eco-tourism-based economic impact to the local area and the county as a whole.
