Fishing pond in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
The police department in Brooklyn Park, Minn., has held an annual Cops & Kids fishing day for a number of years, but the event was either held at the edge of the city at the Mississippi River or outside the city limits. To keep the event local, a sediment-filled storm water pond near the police station was cleaned by volunteers. To clear the pond, 2,500 cubic yards of sediment was removed. The pond was then lined with clay. A trail was built around the pond, and a dock and fishing pier were added.
