Denver’s new marijuana law
Denver has become the first U.S. city to legalize social cannabis use in establishments.
City voters approved Proposition 300 on Election Day, which allows bars and restaurants to obtain a license that would allow patrons to use marijuana with their meal or drinks, according to the Associated Press. Patrons would not be able to smoke it inside, and the establishments would first have to get their neighbors’ approval before being able to apply for a marijuana license.
The measure takes effect immediately, Fox News reports. Unless voters make the law permanent or officials renew the licenses, the measure will expire in 2020.
