El Paso, Texas, Water Utilities and Cambridge, Mass.-based CDM received the Superior Achievement Award from the Annapolis, Md.-based American Academy of Environmental Engineers (AAEE) for a 27.5-million-gallon-per-day inland desalination plant, which was built in cooperation with Fort Bliss U.S. Army base and which is the largest of its kind in North America. Denver Water and CDM received an honor award from AAEE for participating in a study on the effectiveness of ozone as a water main disinfectant.
The San Diego County Department of Public Works and Sacramento, Calif.-based Nolte Associates have received an Award of Excellence from the Reston, Va.-based American Society of Civil Engineers for the Wildcat Canyon Road improvement project.
Greensburg, Kan., and Wichita, Kan.-based Professional Engineering Consultants have received the Public Works Project of the Year Award in the Disaster or Emergency Repair category from the Kansas City, Mo.-based American Public Works Association for the reestablishment of the city’s electricity after a tornado destroyed the city’s downtown in 2007.
