Like many other landfills across the country, expansion plans for the one in Seward County, Neb., are meeting with resistance from the community. The company that owns the 80-acre landfill just south of Milford has withdrawn its request for permission to add another 53 acres so it could operate for another 15 years, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
