Federal, state and local government employees mark Public Service Recognition Week with festivals, open houses, parades, community clean-up days, and fund-raising events to benefit charity, according to the Washington-based Council for Excellence in Government. And, more than 100 federal civilian and military agencies and programs will be holding exhibits on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The Washington-based International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is honoring Public Service Recognition Week — May 5-11 — with some tips on how to be a successful manager. The tips are available at www.icma.org, and include a commitment to efficiency, a long-term perspective, democratic values and sustainability.
