Village Manager
The Village of Ruidoso is seeking a high energy professional to serve as Village Manager. Ruidoso is a destination resort community located in South Central New Mexico. The mountainous area attracts visitors year round to enjoy skiing in the winter and horse racing in the summer, with two casinos in the area. Full time population of 7600 with weekend and holiday visitors up to 40,000. Mayor and 6 council members elected at large to 4-year staggered terms. Ruidoso has a $24 million budget with 180 full time employees. Manager must be able to understand the resort nature and be able to budget with ever changing gross receipts taxes. The Village is a full service community which offers the traditional services plus convention facilities, library, airport, solid waste to include yard waste pick up. The dynamic and unpredictable nature of the community requires the Manager to be forward thinking, versatile, and be able to change with the conditions. Requires an equivalent of a bachelors degree (prefer an MA) in public /business administration, or related field. The candidate must be a strong leader experienced in local government management with experience and skill in financial management, staff development, growth, quality of life issues, with a high level of experience in meeting increased demands with reduction in revenues. Experience in a community of comparable complexity, resort community issues, and knowledge of a resort community is a plus. Manager has responsibility for the day to day operations, and the hiring and firing of personnel. Current salary is in the low $70’s plus benefits and is negotiable for the new Manager.
