URISA calls for abstracts for its Public Health Conference
The Park Ridge, Ill.-based Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) is accepting abstract submissions for its second GIS in Public Health Conference, scheduled for June 5-8, 2009, in Providence, R.I. The theme for the conference is “Putting Health in Place with GIS.”
With the conference, URISA seeks to “provide an open and participator forum for advancing the effective use of spatial information and geographic information system technologies across the domains of public health, healthcare and community health preparedness,” according to a statement from the group. Abstracts should be submitted in the following categories: all-hazard preparedness and disaster response; environmental health; disease surveillance and epidemiology; hospitals and healthcare; healthy communities and social factors in health; maternal and child health; public policy and health advocacy; and models, methods and spatial data infrastructure.
