While on a trip to Ireland, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg took time to squash rumors that he planned to run for president. Bloomberg told reporters that he would serve out the rest of his term as mayor, which ends in 2009, and then leave politics to become a full-time philanthropist, according to The New York Times. Bloomberg said he was flattered by the speculation that he would run for president, and that the rumors had made his mother happy.
