L.A. potty-mouths take a week off
For the first week in March, Los Angeles County became a profanity-free zone. The county’s board of supervisors declared it “No Cussing Week” in recognition of the “No Cussing Club” established at South Pasadena High School by 15-year-old McKay Hatch, according to the Associated Press. Hatch believes that, if people treat each other with more civility, they can work together better. South Pasadena, Calif., declared a No Cussing Week last March, and Hatch says he hopes to have the state make a similar declaration next year. “And then, who knows, maybe worldwide,” Hatch told AP. There was no penalty for violating the county’s proclamation. “But, it’s a good reminder for all of us, not just young people but everybody, to be respectful to one another and watch the words we use,” said Tony Bell, spokesperson for L.A. County Supervisor Michael Antonovich.
