Philadelphia firefighters now have the green light to donate money to political candidates and political action committees. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, a federal judge has “ruled unconstitutional a provision of the 51-year-old Philadelphia Home Rule Charter that prohibits firefighters from making political contributions.” The ruling of U.S. District Judge Stewart Daizell came in a civil-rights lawsuit filed by the Philadelphia Fire Fighters Union Local 22. A city spokesman did not comment on the likelihood of an appeal, telling the paper that officials had yet to review the ruling. For more information, visit
