Police in Columbus, Ohio, put out a specially-equipped car about once a month for three days at a time to catch auto thieves.
The engine is disabled and the doors are locked after a crook enters the vehicle at a police officer’s flip of a switch.
The car has recently been upgraded to blare the theme from “Cops” after it is locked.
Police note that the cold weather has contributed to a surge in car stealing because people seek to warm them before entering. Lt. Marie Ballou says that the bait car caught 10 thieves in just two days last week.
