It’s a prison party!
It started out as a party for a good cause, a barbecue at the Nevada State Prison hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America. However, the June 26 event soon deteriorated into a “fiasco,” according to a copy of the minutes from a prison staff meeting following the event. The meeting minutes say members of a band wore appropriate attire to enter the prison but female band members later were scantily clad, and a motorcycle was brought into the yard for inmate pictures, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Nevada Department of Corrections spokesperson Suzanne Pardee told AP the agency’s inspector general’s office is interviewing staff to find out what happened during the barbecue and fundraiser (it is unclear what the event was raising money for). The Nevada State Prison is a medium security prison and houses about 700 inmates.
