The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority invited residents of Cranfills Gap, Texas, to Sin City for a five-day getaway, beginning Dec. 13, that would be filmed for promoting tourism in the Nevada city, according to AP and Waco, Texas-based news station KWTX.
More than 100 residents accepted the offer but then found themselves stranded on Dec. 18 when a surprise snow storm hit Las Vegas, delaying the group’s return home.
“We thought we would be able to get back to the Gap and enjoy the sunshine,” said Cranfills Gap resident Laura Rose. “[We] didn’t think we’d end up in the desert in the snow.”
