Public Safety

Crime data sharing

CODY Systems

C.O.B.R.A. v. 4.0 is a suite of applications designed to help public safety agencies share real-time data with multiple jurisdictions and officers and agents in the field. Officers can use the software on their MDCs or PDAs to run names, vehicles, incidents and entities from other jurisdictions. The software keeps each contributing agency’s information segregated from all others in its own Insulated Data Silo, and each agency maintains control over its silo, including what information to share, and what different users can see. It translates and transmits data from one data source to another, regardless of the local vendors, databases, or schemas used, and it conforms to prevailing data standards, such as NIEM 2.0. Data can be pushed up-stream or “cross-stream” to systems such as the FBI N-DEx system or other data-sharing networks.

Photo enforcement

Gasto USA

The GS11 red light and speed camera now carries an AMBER Alert feature that allows police departments to search in real time for vehicles through a city’s network of red light or speed photo enforcement cameras. When a suspect vehicle passes a camera location, the camera immediately reports the information back to the police department. The 11-megapixel GS11 camera delivers high-quality images in all lighting and weather conditions and covers up to four lanes of traffic.

Technology monitoring

Sensaphone

The Sensaphone IMS-1000 and IMS-4000 infrastructure monitoring systems detect environmental conditions that exceed predetermined ranges and unresponsive network ports. When the units identify a problem, they sound an alarm and contact IT managers, who can access status information and change programming settings through an internal Web server. The IMS-1000 is for small to mid-size computer rooms and monitors temperature, humidity, power, water, and physical intrusion through optional cameras. Up to eight external sensors monitoring multiple conditions, TCP/IP port service monitors up to 16 network devices or port services, an optional internal telephone modem can deliver additional alarms. The IMS-4000 is expandable for larger needs. It monitors computer networks and IP devices through pinging and port availability. The system can monitor the status of network links, routers, printers, servers and any device that has an IP address.

Diesel generator

Next Generation Power

The Ultra Compact Industrial 5.5 kW diesel generator (UCI 2-5.5) provides back-up power for outages, work trucks, fire/rescue operations and onsite construction equipment. It measures 23″ L × 20″ W × 21″ H and weighs 240 lbs. A heavy-duty, water-cooled, two-cylinder Kubota diesel engine uses a three-vortex combustion system to deliver a high power output with clean burning exhaust. Running at 2,800 rpm, the generator minimizes noise, vibration and wear, and includes extra-resilient isolation mounts and an easy-drain oil change system. It comes standard with a remote start panel, hour meter, harness and oil pressure and water temperature shut down.

Water/Wastewater

Hand-held meter

Hach

The TSS Portable measures turbidity, suspended solids and sludge blanket level with one instrument. It can be used to remotely monitor rivers, municipal and industrial wastewater and drinking water, and as an optimization tool or to calibrate or validate on-line sensors. The instrument uses a multi-beam alternating light method with an infrared diode system, and stores up to four different calibration curves for suspended solids and one for turbidity. It recalibrates automatically for different locations or types of sludge. Turbidity is pre-calibrated with a calibration curve stored in the instrument. For suspended solids, each calibration curve can be adjusted to the laboratory results. The probe is made of polished stainless steel with a scratch-resistant sapphire window, and the internal memory stores up to 290 values, including time, date, measurement and location.

Wastewater treatment

Oldcastle Precast

The Onsite Wastewater System is designed for residential cluster and commercial applications. The system includes primary, secondary and tertiary treatment, including standard aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic treatment. The system’s treatment unit contains multiple Algaewheels that rotate using a small air blower. Algal colonies are fueled by the combination of carbon dioxide, water, sunlight and nutrients, and create cleaner discharge to a drainage field. The system uses solar energy through photosynthesis, produces oxygen as a byproduct and consumes carbon dioxide, reducing greenhouse gases. The system can be used to qualify for LEED credits on applicable projects and is designed to be virtually maintenance free.

Water aerator

Superior Windmill

Windmill Aeration Systems are designed for water storage, golf courses and parks to keep water fresh by pulling it down from the top, sweeping it across the bottom and pushing it up as a column of air. The effect is similar to turnover that is occurring at all times, keeping the water oxygenated. Models are available from 12′ to 20′ tall with hub and compressor preinstalled at the factory. Depending on the model, volumes of air flow produced range from 1.5 cfm @ 15 Kph (9 Mph) to 180 cfH or 3.0 cfm @ 15 Kph (9 Mph).

Pipe design software

MWH Soft

PipePlan extends the core features of InfoWater, the company’s GIS-centric water modeling software. It allows civil engineers to quickly design, plot and complete final drafting of water distribution and transmission pipes in plan and section views. The software helps define the location of pipe ancillary fittings, such as air valves, blow offs, bends and tees; report interference with existing/proposed utility networks; instantly update profiles for horizontal alignment changes; visually check compliance with design criteria; and optimize pipeline construction costs.

Fluorescent lighting fixture

Lamar Lighting

PHOTO: The Max-ER recessed direct/indirect revitalization luminaire has 89% luminaire efficiency, up to 97 Lumens per watt and tool-less ballast access. It arrives as a fully wired one-piece unit that can be directly installed into most existing parabolic housings in less than 10 minutes. It brings volumetric-type lighting to any space, eliminating the “cave effect” commonly produced by parabolic luminaires. Volumetric-type lighting evenly distributes light throughout a space and improves light quality for occupants.
