New air-quality products include a deluxe media air cleaner that provides a MERV 10 rating. According to the manufacturer, it removes 97 percent of pollen-sized particles and 70 percent of all mold and spore-sized particles. A hybrid electronic air cleaner offers efficiency equivalent to MERV 16, works in conjunction with an electronic section and, according to the manufacturer, is never less than 94 percent efficient at trapping particles as small as 0.35 microns in size.
