NLC program helps integrate immigrants
The Washington-based National League of Cities is launching a new program to help city officials integrate immigrants into their communities. The Immigrant Integration Initiative will develop learning networks of city officials, circulate information about successful city programs, and provide training and education assistance to help cities promote naturalization and civic participation of immigrant residents. Created with funding from the Miami-based Knight Foundation, the program is seeking city officials to share their best practices in naturalization and civic participation.
