The deadline has passed for New Orleans residents to clean, gut and board up homes that were damaged in the flooding from Hurricane Katrina. Property owners who did not comply by Aug. 29 and didn’t meet some exemptions spelled out in the city’s ordinance could lose their property, according to the Times-Picayune. However, it is unclear if the city has begun notifying violators and enforcing the law.
