Five sanitation workers in Tucson, Ariz., have been disciplined, some of them terminated, for collecting pay on hours they did not work. Several more workers are expected to face reprimands this week, and the Tucson Police Department will investigate to see if a crime has been committed, according to the Arizona Daily Star. According to city officials, the workers were engaging in “buddy punching,” the practice of having a supervisor punch the timecards of workers who had already gone home so they get credit for hours they didn’t work.
